All Blacks respond to Wallabies surge to win entertaining Bledisloe Cup clash

The All Blacks have held on to win a thrilling Bledisloe Cup clash against the Wallabies in Melbourne, surviving a late fightback to win 39-37.

The Wallabies trailed by 15 points midway through the second half, but they scored three tries in the final 20 minutes to set up a grandstand finish.

The All Blacks were able to hold on, though, and they now lead the Bledisloe Cup series 2-0.

All Blacks dominate early

The All Blacks started the match strongly and they were rewarded with a try to Caleb Clarke in the 10th minute.

The Wallabies hit back with a try to Marika Koroibete, but the All Blacks extended their lead to 18-7 with a try to Rieko Ioane.

The All Blacks continued to dominate and they led 25-7 at half-time.

Wallabies fight back

The Wallabies started the second half strongly and they were rewarded with a try to Taniela Tupou in the 49th minute.

The All Blacks hit back with a try to Ardie Savea, but the Wallabies continued to fight and they scored two tries in quick succession to trail by just 32-28.

The All Blacks extended their lead to 39-28 with a try to Beauden Barrett, but the Wallabies refused to give up and they scored a try to Len Ikitau in the 78th minute to set up a grandstand finish.

All Blacks hold on

The Wallabies had a chance to win the match in the final minute, but they were unable to score and the All Blacks held on to win 39-37.

The All Blacks were not at their best, but they were able to do enough to win the match and retain the Bledisloe Cup.

The Wallabies showed a lot of fight and they will be disappointed not to have won the match, but they can take heart from their performance.
