Declares State of Emergency Ahead of Solar Eclipse
State Prepares for Influx of Tourists During Event
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Today) - Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders declared a state of emergency on Friday ahead of the solar eclipse, according to a news release.
"Arkansas is preparing to host an influx of tourists for the 2024 solar eclipse," Sanders said in a press release. "This declaration will allow us to ensure that we have the resources in place to keep everyone safe and make sure that this is a memorable event for all."
Crews in several Arkansas counties are on standby and ready to respond to any emergencies that may arise, the release said.
The state of emergency will remain in effect until April 10, 2024.
