Yellowstone Volcano: Ripe for a Super-Eruption?

70,000 Years Overdue

Impressive Earthquakes and Ground Uplift Needed

Yellowstone National Park is home to one of the world's most famous supervolcanoes. It has been dormant for over 70,000 years, but scientists believe it is due for a major eruption. The last super-eruption occurred 631,000 years ago and spewed ash and debris over much of the United States.

Scientists say that it will take a series of large earthquakes and significant ground uplift to trigger another super-eruption at Yellowstone. These events would indicate that magma is rising towards the surface, pressurizing the ground and releasing seismic energy.

While there is no immediate threat of a super-eruption, scientists are closely monitoring Yellowstone for signs of increased activity. They believe that if an eruption does occur, it would have a devastating impact on the region, potentially causing widespread destruction and climate change.
