The Boston Celtics continued their impressive run of form on Friday night, crushing the Golden State Warriors 140-88 at TD Garden. With this victory, the Celtics extend their winning streak to 11 games, solidifying their position atop the NBA standings.
Leading the charge for Boston was Jaylen Brown, who poured in 29 points on 11-of-18 shooting. Jason Tatum, who celebrated his 26th birthday on Friday, contributed 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting.
The Celtics' dominance was evident from the outset. They opened the game with a 35-19 run in the first quarter and never looked back. Their stifling defense limited the Warriors to just 32% shooting from the field, including a dismal 18.2% from three-point range.
"We're playing with great energy and focus right now," said Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla. "Our defense is clicking, and we're getting easy baskets off turnovers."
Stephen Curry, the Warriors' superstar point guard, was held to just 19 points on 7-of-19 shooting. Klay Thompson added 22 points for Golden State, but it wasn't enough to overcome Boston's relentless attack.
With this win, the Celtics improve their record to 52-13, the best in the NBA. The Warriors, on the other hand, fall to 32-33 and are in danger of missing the playoffs.
The two teams will face off again on March 10th in San Francisco.
